Quick Add lets you add multiple tasks at once and add details to the task right in the task title or in the subject line when you create it via email. Once you get the hang of it, you'll save tons of time.

Use Quick Add Syntax in the task title

When creating a new task, you can type the date and time as part of the description to save yourself a few clicks.

For example, if you type Perform at Memorial Day Parade on May 31 @ 12pm

Create task with quick add syntax in title

GQueues will create a task named Perform at Memorial Day Parade and set a date of May 31st and a time of 12pm

Task created after quick add syntax and saved

You can type with just about any format and GQueues will figure out what you mean. Here are just a few examples:

  • Renew license thursday @3pm

  • Renew license 11/19 at 3pm

  • Renew license 11/19/09 at 3pm

  • Renew license nov 19, 2009 @ 3 pm

  • Renew license 19.Nov @ 1500

  • 11-19 Renew license at 3 PM

  • Renew license tomorrow @3p

❗️Please Note: If you use the date format dd/mm/yyyy instead of mm/dd/yyyy you can set this preference in the Calendar tab in Settings.

See our Quick Add Syntax Reference for all available syntax.

👉 Pro Tip: Use the ~ to disable Quick Add Syntax for any text following it. “~write minutes for Aug 3rd meeting” or “write minutes for ~Aug 3rd meeting” will create a task titled “write minutes for Aug 3rd meeting” with no date.

Create multiple tasks with the Quick Add Window

The Quick Add Window allows you to enter multiple tasks at once, making it easy to import tasks from elsewhere or create a set of tasks from a text template.

To open the window just click the Quick Add button or type q.

Open the Quick Add window

Choose a queue from the dropdown where the new tasks should be created. (If you specify a queue in a task description it will override this setting for that task). Enter one task per line using any of the Quick Add Syntax. Type Enter to get a new line and Shift + Enter to save.

Use the Quick Add Window to create multiple tasks at once.

Here's an example where all tasks will be created in the Soup Kitchen queue:
