Getting started with the GQueues MCP

How to use GQueues with AI assistants

What is the GQueues MCP?

This feature lets you manage your GQueues tasks by simply talking to an AI assistant — like Claude, ChatGPT, or Google Gemini — in everyday language.

Instead of switching over to GQueues, you can just ask your assistant things like "What's on my work list today?" or "Add 'pick up groceries' to my personal queue." The assistant takes care of the rest in your GQueues account.

You're always in control. You connect your account through a secure sign-in, you decide what the assistant is allowed to do, and you can disconnect it whenever you like.

What can the GQueues MCP do?

Right now, you can ask your assistant to:

  • See your queues — your personal, team, and shared lists, including how many tasks are on each.

  • See and search your tasks — see what's active in any queue or search across all your queues (including completed tasks).

  • Add new tasks — to any queue. You can include details like a due date, time, tags, or who it's assigned to, all in plain language.

  • Change your tasks — rename or edit tasks, reschedule due dates, add tags or assignees, complete them, snooze them, or move them to new sections.

  • Delete tasks — send tasks you no longer need to the trash.

  • Organize your account — create new queues and sections, and see the sections in a queue.

  • Tidy up as things change — rename a queue or section, or update queue notes.

You don't need to learn any special commands — just ask naturally, and the assistant figures out what to do. See the Example prompts section below for ideas.

How to set up the GQueues MCP

What you'll need to get started

  1. An active GQueues account.

  2. One of the supported AI assistants: Claude, ChatGPT, or Google Gemini.

  3. The GQueues connection address: https://mcp.gqueues.com/

Connect your AI assistant

Add the GQueues MCP server as a "connector" (sometimes called an "app") in your assistant. Paste in the connection address from above and sign in to GQueues to approve it. Here's where to find that in each assistant:

Claude

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste in the connection address and follow the prompts to sign in.

ChatGPT (OpenAI)

Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings, turn on Developer mode, then choose Create app and paste in the connection address.

Google Gemini

Connecting through the Gemini website isn't available yet. (If you use the Gemini command-line tool, see the advanced section below.)

Using a command-line tool? (advanced)

If you connect through a developer command-line tool, use the matching command and replace <address> with the connection address above:

  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http gqueues <address>

  • OpenAI Codex: codex mcp add gqueues --url <address>

  • Gemini CLI: gemini mcp add --transport http gqueues <address>

Sign in and approve access

The first time your assistant uses GQueues, it will open a GQueues sign-in page in your browser. To approve access:

  1. Sign in to GQueues (if you aren't already).

  2. Review what you're allowing — the assistant asks to view your queues and tasks and to create and make changes to them (add, edit, complete, and delete tasks).

  3. Click approve. That's it — you're connected!

You sign in directly with GQueues, so the AI assistant never sees your password. 🔒

Example prompts

  • "What queues do I have in GQueues?"

  • "Show me what's on my Work list."

  • "Add 'Email the Q3 report to finance' to my Work queue, due Friday at 2pm."

  • "Put 'call the dentist' in my Inbox."

  • "What's still open on my Personal list this week?"

  • "Reschedule 'Email the Q3 report to finance' to next Monday."

  • "Mark 'call the dentist' as done."

  • "Find all my tasks tagged urgent."

  • "Rename my 'Work' queue to 'Client Work'."

  • "What sections are in my Work queue?"

👉 Pro Tip: If you don't specify where a task should live, it will be added to your GQueues Inbox.

Good to know

  • The assistant can view and search your tasks, add new ones, and edit, complete, snooze, move them within their queue, and delete them — plus create, rename, or edit queues and sections. We're still adding capabilities, so expect more over time.

  • If you ask to create the same task twice within about a day, GQueues assumes it was a repeat and keeps just one so you won't get accidental duplicates. Every detail has to match for it to count as a duplicate. When a repeat is skipped, your assistant it told that nothing new was created as the item already existed. If you did mean to create a second copy, just tell your assistant that. The same process works for queues and sections too.

Manage your usage

Monitor your connected clients and your available credits from the MCP tab in your GQueues Settings.

Need more credits? GQueues for BUSINESS offers the highest credit limit. If you're on GQueues Lite or GQueues for YOU, consider upgrading to BUSINESS to maximize your AI productivity.

Disconnect your AI Assistant from GQueues

You can remove an assistant's access at any time:

  • In GQueues, go to the MCP tab of your Settings. Each connected assistant is listed with a Disconnect button — click it to revoke that assistant's access.

  • You can also remove the GQueues connector directly from within your AI assistant's own settings.
