Sections give you a way to organize your tasks into groups within a queue. When you add a section, you get a heading under which to group related tasks without creating additional queues or subtasks.

Add a section

To create a new section in a queue, you must be the queue owner or have collaborator editing permissions. Sections are not available in filtered views such as Smart Queues or search results.

Select the queue More menu and choose Add section from the dropdown.

Select "Add section" from the Queue menu to add a section at the bottom of the queue

This will create a new section at the bottom of the queue where you can add the section name and start adding tasks.

Add tasks to sections

Add a new task within a section

To create a new task within a section, make sure the section is expanded. Then hover your cursor over the section and click the Add task button that shows up underneath the section.

Expand the section and then select "Add task" to add a new task within the section.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut o to create a new task at the bottom of the current section. Or Shift+O to create a new task at the top of the current section.

Move tasks in sections

To move an existing task into a section, select the task you want to move and drag it into the section.

Drag and drop tasks within and between sections

The same goes for moving a task from one section to another. If you want to move a task so it's not in any section, just drag it up above all sections.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut 1-9 to move the selected task to position 1-9 within the section.

Expand and collapse sections

To collapse or expand all tasks within a section, click the arrow icon on the section header.

Move sections

Sections can be moved by dragging and dropping, just like you'd move a task. Select its handle to the left of the section to move to the new desired location.

❗️Please Note: Sections cannot live above standalone tasks. If you have tasks not in sections within your queue, they will always be at the top. It is not possible to drag a section above them.

Link to sections

If you're working with others, sharing links to the sections you're referring to can be a helpful way to clarify communication and make sure everyone is looking at the same set of tasks. To get a section link, select the More menu and choose Copy link from the dropdown.

Section Activity

You can see all activity for a section by selecting the section's More menu and choosing Activity from the dropdown.

Delete a section

❗️Please Note: When you delete a section, all tasks within that section will also be deleted. If you want to keep those tasks, make sure to move them out of the section first!

To delete a section, select its More menu and choose Delete from the dropdown. Confirm you want to delete the section and any tasks within it in the pop-up window.

Sections on mobile apps

Sections are NOT available on mobile apps at this time. Tasks will display in the correct order on mobile and you'll still be able to work with your tasks from your phone. But you will not be able to see the section headers on the mobile app.
