Organize your tasks in Board view

Group your tasks into vertical sections to visually move them through stages

You can choose the layout of your queue to display your tasks in a list or in Board view. The default list view is great for lots of simple task management needs. But if you're working on more complex projects, need kanban project management, or a task has various stages it needs to move through, then board view offers a powerful option to visualize where everything stands.

View your queue in Board view

To organize your tasks in Board view, toggle to Board view.

Select "Board view" to toggle from List to Board view in GQueues

Any sections you already had set up will now show as vertical columns, with the tasks represented by cards on the board.

Add a section

To add a new section, select the Add section icon on the right hand side of the queue.

The new section will be added to the right of your other sections, ready for you to add a name.

Any sections you create in board view will still be visible if you switch back to List view later.

Move sections

To move a section to a new position in the queue, simply drag and drop! All tasks within the section will move with it.

Add tasks to sections

To add a task in a section, select the + Add task button.

This will create a new task in the section. If you need to edit the task title later, just click the edit icon to the right of the task name.

You can add task details like the due date, assignment, and tags from the More dropdown menu.

If you want to add more information to the task than what's available in the More menu, including adding text formatting to titles, you should do that from the Task Detail view. Just click anywhere on the task card to view and edit full task details.

From the Task Details view you can edit full information on the task, including accessing the Comments and Activity panel.

Move tasks

To move a task in a section, just drag and drop the card to it's newly desired location.

You can also use drag and drop to move a task from one section to another.

You can also move a task to a different section from the Task Details view. To do this, select the section isn't currently in at the top of the card. This will open a dropdown where you can select from the other sections available. The task will be added to the top or bottom of that section, in the same location newly created tasks are added according to your account settings.

Complete tasks

To mark a task complete in Board view, click the checkmark. Completed tasks in Board view will always stay in the active portion of the queue, crossed out.

If you'd prefer the task be moved to the Archive, you can do that by selecting Archive from the task More menu.

To move a task to the Archive in board view, select Archive from the task More menu


πŸ‘‰ Pro Tip: You can also archive a task by holding down the Shift key while clicking the checkbox.

Delete a section

To delete a section, select the section's More menu, to the right of the section title. Select Delete from the dropdown menu.

To delete a section and all tasks inside it, select Delete from the section's More menu

❗️Please Note: Any tasks in the section will be moved to the Trash. If you don't want the tasks to be deleted, make sure to move them before deleting the section!

Deleting a section cannot be undone. You can always restore tasks that were deleted from the Trash, but the section itself will need to be remade if you decide you want to use it again.

Please Note: Board view is not currently available in the mobile app. Queues in mobile will show in list view. et
