If you run your business on GQueues, it can be helpful to connect your domain or business name to your subscription. While not required in order to have a GQueues for BUSINESS subscription, it can be particularly useful if you've installed GQueues on your Google Workspace domain so you can get those full benefits. It's also helpful if you manage multiple GQueues subscriptions as a quick way to tell which is which in your settings.

Add or edit a business name for your subscription

A business name gives you another way to identify your subscription. The process is the same whether you want to add one for the first time or edit one you previously added. Here's how it works.

You must be logged in as a license admin in order to add a business name for your subscription. In the Account tab of your GQueues settings, click Manage next to the subscription you want to update the name for.

Select Manage to open subscription information for your GQueues for BUSINESS subscription

This will open your subscription management page, where you can add a name or edit the existing one by clicking Update name.

Most users use their company name, but you can use any shorthand identifier you like. For example, if you manage multiple subscriptions under the same company, you might enter Northwest Branch for one and Southeast Branch for another.

Once the name is set, it will appear at the top of the subscription management page and in the snapshot you see from the Account tab in Settings.

What does adding your domain in GQueues do?

Adding your domain is another option for identifying your subscription in GQueues. It's not required to add one, so if you don't have one it's not a problem. But there are benefits to adding your domain in GQueues, especially if you've installed GQueues on your Google Workspace domain.

Adding a domain to your subscription will enable GQueues to auto-issue licenses for your subscription. (As a reminder, if you choose to have licenses auto-renew, anytime someone logs into GQueues with an email @yourdomain.com, GQueues will issue them a license as long as you have some available.) If you don't enter a domain, GQueues can't auto-issue licenses because we won't know what email addresses are connected to your subscription.

And if you've installed GQueues on your Google Workspace domain, updating the domain on your GQueues subscription to match will make it easier to issue licenses to specific users because it will give you the option to choose from those in your domain.

Only the email addresses matching the domain name specified in GQueues will be listed in your Domain Users list, so make sure it matches the domain you installed GQueues on!

How to update the domain for your GQueues subscription

You must be logged in as a license admin to update your domain (or if you install GQueues on your domain, you can also access this page if you're a Super Admin in Google Workspace). The process is the same whether you're adding a domain for the first time or editing it after a change. To update your domain, go to the Account tab in GQueues Settings.

Click manage to go to the subscription management page.

Select Manage to open GQueues Subscription Management Page and add your domain

On the top right side of your screen, click the button that says Update Domain.

Click Update domain to add a domain for your GQueues for BUSINESS subscription

Enter the domain name in the text field that appears and click Update.

Enter domain for your GQueues account

The domain you enter will now appear on your subscription management page and on the snapshot on your Account tab in GQueues.

All existing members who have been issued licenses will still maintain their access, and this update won’t change any functionality for existing teams or team members. But it will make it easier for you to identify your subscription and manage licenses moving forward. 😊

Change your domain name in Google Workspace

If you’re changing your business domain in Google Workspace and migrating your current team members to the new domain, this can be taken care of in the Admin Console from Google Workspace. This is useful when you’re rebranding and updating your business domain name.

When your team members sign out of their GQueues accounts and log back in after the changes are made, they will be prompted to update their email address to the new domain name.

These email address changes will be reflected on the subscription management page, but the domain name in GQueues will still need to be manually changed following steps above as a final step in the process so that it's consistent with your new domain name.
